ABOUT CUSCO

Cuzco is a must on any trip to Peru. Once capital of the Inca empire, Cusco is now the tourist capital of South America. And not without reason. You cannot help be taken by the charm of this Spanish Colonial city built upon Inca foundations. Cusco means "Centre of the World" (literally navel of the world) in Quechua, the language of the Incas, and the mixture of Spanish and indigenous culture and architecture, along with the influence of international travelers, makes this name appropriate to this day.

The cities colourful local markets, amazing landscapes and traditional music and dance are among some of the highlights of any visit. And of course, you can't miss the many impressive Incan ruins - most notably Sacsayhuaman and Machu Picchu

Cuzco offers plenty of things to do in the evenings too, with bars, restaurants and clubs to explore. In fact, Cusco is renowned for its nightlife.

You should book early to travel during important festivals like Corpus Christi (June 19), Inti Raymi (June 22) and Christmas and New Year.
