Location:
25 km south of Lima

Weather:
 Average temperature between 16°C and 28°C. Cold period from April to October and it’s warm from November to March.

Access:
Take the highway south from Lima. The beach is 5 minutes from the highway. Accessible to all vehicles.

Services:
It’s close to the city but there’s not much around. I don’t recommend you hang out to long once your done surfing.

Arica Lurin-Peru

Location:
39 km south of Lima, in the Lurin district.

Kind of wave:
Beach breaks, rights, lefts

Sea performance:
Cold water, best period in Peruvian summer (November to March); 100% consistent.

Weather:
Moderate, moist, depending the season.
Cold with light rains or hot average temperature between 12°C and 28°C. Cold period from April to October, warm from November to March.

Access:
Take the highway south. Accessible to all vehicles.

Services :
All services can be found in the towns of Punta Hermosa and Lurin

Pulpos

Location:
40 km south of Lima

Kind of wave:
Beach breaks, rights

Sea performance:
Cold water, best period in Peruvian summer (November to March); 100% consistent.

Weather:
Average temperature between 12°C and 28°C. Cold period from April to October; warm from November to March.

Access:
Highway, 25 minute drive from the city, accessible to all vehicles.

Services:
Stores and little restaurants 1 km from the beach are the only services you have. No services available in winter. All sevices available in Punta Hermosa and Lurin.

You are not allowed to camp in residential areas. .

Silencio

This wave is not recommended. A big swell has to hit to get the right conditions.

Better for swimming.

Señoritas

Location:

40 km south of Lima.

Kind of wave:
Reef-break, strong left, long and tubular.
It does reach 3 metres. Not recommended for beginners: Better for more advanced surfers (those in good shape).

Sea performance:
Cold water, variable current depending on the waves. Best period is in winter (May to October), with the highs of the north hemisphere. Waves all the year.
Average temperature: 16°C.

Weather:
In summer it’s very warm. In winter, use a 3x2 wetsuit. Temperatures range from 12 C to 28 C. .

Access:
Take the highway south of Lima, taking the old highway that goes through the town of Punta Hermosa. Accessible to all vehicles.

Services:
Some restaurants open all year for surfers, all kinds of services in the town of Punta Hermosa.

Caballeros

Location:

40 km south of Lima, off the old highway. .

Kind of wave:
Reef-break, good right, long and tubular.
It does reach 3 metres. Beginners recommended and advanced.

Sea performance:
Cold water, variable current depending on the waves. Good waves year round.
Average temperature: 16°C.

Weather:
In summer it’s very warm. In winter use 3x2 wetsuit. Temperatures between 12 and 28 C/

Access:
Take the highway south of Lima, taking the old highway that goes through the town of Punta Hermosa. Accessible to all vehicles.

Services:
Some restaurants open all year for surfers, all kinds of services in the town of Punta Hermosa.

Pico Alto

Location:
43 km south of Lima, Punta Hermosa district.

Kind of wave:
Outer-reef, rights eventually lefts. It can reach 8 to 10 metres.  Waves; strong, long, with tubular section. Breaks 1 km from shore. only for advanced surfers in excellent condition.

Sea performance:
Cold water (more so in winter). smooth current. Better in the winter (May to October) with the highs of the north hemisphere. Waves all year.
Average temperature: 16°C.

Weather:
In summer very hot, reaching 28°C. In winter it’s moderate, but does not get below 12°C

Access:
Take the highway south of Lima, taking the old highway that goes through the town of Punta Hermosa. Good entry points are paddling from Senoritas or Playa Norte. Accessible to all vehicles.

Services:
All - in the town of Punta Hermosa.

Playa Norte

Location:
43 km south of Lima.

Kind of wave:
Reef break, rights. With proper conditions it’s an excellent ride. It works better with low tide.

Sea performance: Cold water, light current, best period is winter (June to September) 100% consistent.

Weather:
Temperatures between 12 and 28 C. Use a 3X2 wetsuit in the cold months (June to September)

Access:

Take the highway south from Lima through main entrance to Punta Hermosa and then ask.

Punta Hermosa has all services

El Paso

Location:
43 km south of Lima.

Kind of wave:
Reef break, rights. With proper conditions it’s an excellent ride. It works better with low tide and glassy water. Not for beginners.

 Sea performance:
Cold water, light current, best period is Peruvian winter. 100% consistent.

Weather:
Average temperature between 28°C and 12°C. Cold period from April to October and warm from November to March.

Access:
25 minutes drive from the city (Lima) along the highway. Accessible to all vehicles. Go to the town of Punta Hermosa and then go to the north side of La Isla and ask for directions from there.

Punta Hermosa

Location:
40 km south of Lima.

Kind of wave:
Rights, strong, big and fast, tubular sections.

Sea performance:
Cold water, waves all the year.
Average temperature: 16°C.

Weather:
Very hot in summer 28°C; in winter 12°C.

Services:
Punta Hermosa has all services, all year.

Punta Rocas

Location:
42 km south of Lima, in the district of Punta Negra

Kind of wave:
Reef-break, left and right, long, big and strong with tubular section. 4 meters, recommended for beginners and advanced surfers.

Sea performance:
Cold water, variable current, waves all the year. Best period is in the winter (May to October).
Average temperature: 16°C.

Weather:
Hot in the summer 28°C; in winter not less than 12°C.

Access:
Take the old highway south of Lima to the town of Punta Negra. Punta Roca is the first beach in this town, situated in the north end. Accessible to all vehicles.

Services:
Punta Negra has all services.

Santa Rosa

Location:
44 km south of Lima.

Kind of wave:
Reef-break, left, strong, fast, with tubular section. Reaches 4 meters, not for beginners

Sea performance:
Cold water, light current (in highs the current gets very strong near the shore). Best period is in summer with north highs.
Average temperature: 16°C.

Weather:
Summers are hot 28°C; in winter not less than 12°C.

Access:
Take the old highway south from Lima to Punta Negra, then take the affirmed road that goes to the south end of the beaches (bordering San Bartolo).

Services:
Punta Negra has many services – although Santa Rosa is a good distance from town.

El Huaico

Location:
50 km south of Lima

Kind of wave:
El huaico.-reef-break, left wave, formed, with tubular section, the speed of the wave varies depending on the swell, small and medium waves from 1 to 2 meters.
Peña Rosa is a left wave; strong, formed with tubular section, medium-high waves, up to 3 meters high. Neither beach is recommended for beginners.

Sea performance:
Waves all year, especially with north swell.
Average temperature: 16° C.

Weather:

Summers are hot reaching 28°C; in winter it goes down to 12°C.

Access:

Take the old highway south from Lima to Punta Negra, then take the affirmed road that goes to the south end of the beaches (bordering San Bartolo).

Services:
Punta Negra has many services – although El Huaico is a good distance from town.

Peñascal

Location:
51 km south of Lima.

Kind of wave:
Reef-break, right, strong, tubular section. Considered one of the stronger waves south of Lima. The wave reaches 4 meters.

Sea performance:
Cold water, waves all the year.
Average temperature: 16°C. Not recommended for beginners.

Weather:
Summers are hot reaching 28°C; in winter it goes down to 12°C.

Access:
Take the old highway south from Lima, until you arrive at the town of San Bartolo.

Services:
San Bartolo has many services.

San Bartolo

Location:
51 km south of Lima.

Kind of wave:
Reef-break, right and left, strong, formed, with a tubular section on a good day. Any level of surfing.

Sea performance:
Cold water, waves all the year.
Average temperature: 16°C

Weather:
Hot in summer, reaches the 28°C. It will not go below 12°C in winter.

Access:
Take the old highway south from Lima, until you arrive at the town of San Bartolo.

Services:
San Bartolo has many services.

 

Santa Maria

52 km south of Lima.

Kind of wave:
Beach break, tubular section on a good day, right wave, recommended for advanced surfers, best to surf this wave before a swell or after one.

Sea performance:
Cold water, waves all the year.
Average temperature: 16°C

Weather:
Hot in summer, reaches the 28°C. It will not go bellow 12°C in winter.

Access:
Take the highway south of Lima to the town of Santa Maria.

Services:
Santa María has most services in the summer. San Bartolo is also nearby and offers services year round.

Puerto Nuevo

71 km south of Lima.

Kind of wave:
Beach break, tubular section on a good day, right and left; strong wave, recommended for advanced surfers, best to surf this wave before a swell or after one.

Sea performance:
Cold water that varies depending on the season; waves all the year.
Average temperature: 16°C

Weather:
Hot in summer, reaches the 28°C. Does not go bellow 12°C in winter.

Access:
Take the highway south of Lima to kilometer 71. Take the detour to the right by an affirmed trail for about 3 Km until you reach the south of the beach. It is in front of new beach houses. Ask for a permit.

Services:
No services.

La Ensenada

80 km south of Lima.

Kind of wave:
Reef-sandy break, left, strong, formed, with tubular section. Considered one of the best, when it’s good. Reaches 2 m.

Sea performance:
Cold water that varies according to the season; waves all the year.
Average temperature: 16°C, not recommended for beginners.

Weather:
Hot in summer, reaches 28°C. Does not go below 14°C in winter

Access:
Follow the highway south to km 80.

Services:
No services, but a few places to eat.

Asia

98 km south of Lima.

Kind of wave:
There are many kilometers of beach-breaks, with different kinds of peaks, thanks to a few islands in front (that make the waves become peaky). Rights, lefts, strong, formed, with tubular section.

Sea performance:
Cold water, light current, waves all the year.
Average temperature: 16°C.

Weather:
Hot in summer, reaches 28°C. Does not go below 14°C in winter.

Access:
When you get to km 98 south of Lima, take the detour on the right (the old road) in between the summer clubs.

Services:
All services are available in summer.

Puerto Fiel

(La playita o Cabo negro).

120 km south of Lima.

Kind of wave:

Reef-break, left and strong with tubular section. A strong wave that reaches 3 metres. It is dangerous because it breaks in front of a long rock formation. If you get in the middle of this, you better not think about it!

Sea performance:
Cold water, current, waves all the year.
Average temperature: 16°C.

Weather:
Hot in summer, reaches 28°C. Does not get below 14°C in winter

Access:
Around Km 120 on the highway south of Lima, take the detour to the right (old road) heading to the town of Puerto Fiel.

Services:
No services in winter but Cerro Azul is close and it has many services.

Cerro Azul

Location:
132 km south of Lima.

Kind of wave:
Left, tubular and long. The wave breaks in front of the town. Reaches 2 m. Very good to practice skills. When the sea gets high, right waves break in the other side of the jetty, quick, strong and tubular.

Sea performance:
Strong Rips

Weather:

Cold in winter in the summer it’s very hot.

Access:
132 km south of Lima, follow the signs to the town of Cerro Azul.

Services:
The town Cerro Azul has many services.

Pepinos

Location:
150 km south of Lima, off the highway.

Kind of wave:
Reef-break, left, strong, formed, with tubular section. Considered BEST PLACE TO SURF WHEN EVERYTHING IS FLAT, it reaches 2 meters.

Sea performance:
Cold water, light current, waves all year.
Average temperature: 16°C

Weather:
Very hot in summers, reaches 28°C and in winter reaches 14°C.

Access:
At km 150 south of LIma, take the road to the right. You have to pass through farms until you reach the ocean. Ask the locals for help as it’s very difficult to get there.

Services:
No services. The town of Cañete is close and has many services.

San Gallan

Location:
On the south coast of Peru in the city of Ica.

Kind of wave:
Right, tubular and long.

Weather:
Depending on the season, varies from 18°C to 24°C

Access:
245 km south of Lima. Look for El Chaco Beach. There you can rent boats to reach the island.  The boat trip is about 1 ½ hour.

Services :
No services on the island. Many services in the nearby town of Paracas.
